Reception for the artist on Friday, September 14th, 5:00-7:30 PM
Exhibition runs September 14th thru November 16th

Donald Young Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of the third installment of DYG Projects with three new installations by sound artist Jeremy Boyle. With this Project, Boyle fully realizes the possibilities of the medium by giving the viewer three different representations of sound. Installed discreetly in a corner is Untitled (Conversation), an audiovisual example of sound in the form of LCD screens and speakers. With this installation Boyle is able to use the anonymity and deliberate randomness of computer programming to call attention to conventional understandings of meaning, syntax and speech. In Gallery C, Untitled (Installation) provides the visual model of sound and consists of two opaque pools of water that appear to dance, or at least react, to an electronic soundtrack composed by the artist. Finally, outside the Gallery along Washington Boulevard, unsuspecting passersby will experience the physicality of sound in Untitled (Bench).

Born in Pittsburgh in 1975, Boyle received his BFA from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2000. He has been critically recognized for his art installations and his musical recordings and both exhibits and performs prolifically.

The reception is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday thru Friday, 10:00 to 5:30 and Saturday, 11:00 to 5:30. If you would like more information, please contact Emily Letourneau at 312.455.0100.
