Donald Young Gallery is pleased to announce the American premiere of Jean-Marc Bustamante L.P., 2000, a series of twelve large color photographs taken in the year 2000 in Switzerland. Most of the pictures are presented in the portrait format and all twelve contain a lake. The lake becomes embedded in the center, between the distant bank (the “other world”) and the viewer’s foreground: objects, industry, buildings, trees. The photos become reflections of the horizontality of the water’s surface, the position of the viewer and the relationships between things.

A catalogue accompanies the exhibition, which is also being presented at Galerie Max Hetzler, Berlin and the neues Kunstmuseum Luzern. Jean- Marc Bustamante was born in 1952 in Toulouse, France, has exhibited internationally for over twenty years, and presently lives and works in Paris.
