CHICAGO, IL April 20, 2000 -- The Donald Young Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of this exhibition of new sound, video and film works by gallery artists Gary Hill, Rodney Graham and Bruce Nauman together with Helen Mirra, Jeremy Boyle, Paul Dickinson, M.W. Burns, Joshua Mosley, John Neff, and Kirsten Stoltmann. The works by Hill, Graham and Nauman have not previously been seen in Chicago. Gary Hillís Namesake, 1999, is an audio and video installation; Rodney Grahamís Listening Lounge is an installation which includes music produced and performed by the artist and was first shown in 1999 at the artistís exhibition at the Kunsthalle Wien; Bruce Naumanís Setting a Good Corner, 1999, is a new single channel video piece. The exhibition presents emerging artists working in film, video and sound: M.W. Burns, a sound artist who is included in this yearís Whitney Biennial 2000; Helen Mirra, a recent recipient of a Tiffany Foundation grant and a film and installation artist whose work appears in the current exhibition at the MCA, Chicago, Age of Influence: Reflections in the Mirror of American Culture; Jeremy Boyle will present Jimi, a stereo installation inspired by songs from the guitar solos, a recent CD released by the artist; sound and video artist Paul Dickinson; digital and film artist Joshua Mosley; and video makers John Neff and Kirsten Stoltmann. This exhibition marks the beginning of a long-term project through which the gallery will present new media - including sound, video, film and digital works ? on a regular basis. The gallery invites submissions and proposals for the 2000-2001 season. The exhibition will open to the public on Friday,
March 5th and will continue through Saturday, June 10th. Gallery
